adrianpeterson Fantasy Football: Buy Low, Sell High Week 7

Buy Low:

Adrian Peterson

His name certainly doesn’t carry the weight and significance it did even last season.  People are almost unanimously down on Peterson after watching him ruin his knee twice last season, presenting the perfect opportunity for intuitive owners to sweep in and take him.  Over the past three games he has been averaging 4.9 ypc, after averaging 4.0 over the first three, so improvements are definitely there.  Remember, were talking about a perennial workhorse, possibly the best the league has ever seen here.  He hasn’t scored single digit touchdowns in any season since entering the league, and I honestly believe he’ll get there once again this season.

Vernon Davis

After a week of scoring zero points, the tight end should be an easier grab this week than he should be. True, he hasn’t scored since week three, but he also had 106 yards (season high), just two weeks ago.  Let’s not soon forget how vital Davis was in the 49ers playoff plans last season, going for over 100 yards and nabbing two touchdowns in each game he played, which paints the true picture of his importance to the team.  He will rebound nicely, though I’m sure many owners know that.

Denarius Moore

This is by far the biggest gut call of the article, but I believe in Denarius Moore’s ability to be a great receiver in this league.  Unfortunately, after last week I’m sure many people feel the same way, but his value should still be low enough on the market that you can get a steal value for him.  He’s gone for over 65 yards in 3 of 4 games this season, scoring two touchdowns over the span and is Carson Palmer’s first look in almost any situation.  Test out his owner and see how much he values Moore before making an offer.

Sell High:

Miles Austin

When I say “sell-high” for Austin, I’m basically just saying, “sell.” After week 6 of last season, Austin failed to surpass 65 yards in any game despite playing spectacularly to start the season.  He is constantly riddled with injuries and I have a sinking feeling another is coming up.  Don’t wait until it is too late, just let him go now, while he still has decent value.

Robert Griffin III

Yes, he is a beast and by all means no one is taking the title “Black Jesus” away from him anytime soon.  However, there exists multiple reasons why you may want to consider letting go of RGIII.  For one, he is a rookie, and despite the increasing levels of success rookies have been gaining in past years, they will forever be vulnerable and inconsistent.  Cam Newton fell of in a pretty hard way toward the end of last season, and it’s quite plausible that RGIII will follow suit.  Also, the league is absolutely stacked at the QB position this year, and guys like Andy Dalton who provide consistent value are often found on the waiver wires.  Lastly, he has a sneaking injury concern after taking a huge hit that gave him a concussion just two weeks ago. If you can get a great deal on Griffin, don’t hesitate.

CJ Spiller

He still has the ability to put up very good numbers this season, just not as good as the value you could be getting for him.  His name still carries the utmost weight after he ripped the NFL in his first two games of the season, so the buyers should still be there for him.  He also did well by scoring a touchdown last game, which further inflates his value.  However, it is the time share with Fred Jackson that creates the concern that his production will fall off in the coming weeks, since the Bills can’t seem to make up their minds on who they like more.
